Day In the Life

I haven’t done one of these in a really long time and happened to pick a weekend where the weather was beautiful and we decided to spend most of the day out of the house, which also means most of these pictures are off the phone.  I’ve learned lately that it’s just much easier to carry the phone rather than the bigger camera, especially with how active they both are.

Anyhoo, our Saturday started off early… so early.  I think the kids were up before 6:00… it was dark and far too early.  I suppose on the plus side it meant we had plenty of time to decide what our plans would be and time to get ready, though.  I gave Enzo a few options and he picked the zoo, so we figured we’d start there and then see where the day led us.

One should never have to watch the sun rise on the weekends. Ha ha.  Granted, this weekend I was glad we were up and despite the great weather the zoo wasn’t crowded, so it made the morning even more enjoyable.

With time still left in the day, we decided we’d go to one of our favorite wineries in Hastings, grab a few bottles and then drive to an orchard to let the kids pick apples.  Just as planned/hoped for, the kiddos fell asleep on the drive and were able to get a little bit of a nap in before getting out of the car again.

We managed to pick about 10 pounds of apples before the kids were ready to call it a day.  Phoebe wanted to be held and told me she was tired, so we hit the road and decided to grab some Sonic on the way home because I rarely get to eat Sonic and it will forever be my favorite.  Plus we rarely eat fast food with the kids, and it was the easiest thing considering we wouldn’t get home until after their normal dinner time. We unbuckled them, put on some Rescue Rangers, and there you go.

We finally got home and both kids were filled with tired delirium and raced back and forth while Vega just tried to get some snuggles in before we “locked” her up for the night and let out the other kitties.  The cats are still growling/hissing at each other, but we’ve been able to let them all roam the house at the same time. I don’t trust them unsupervised, though.

And so our busy day was done.  Phew!

Such a busy day! This sort of makes me wish we hadn’t decided to skip an apple orchard this year. Perhaps there is still time…
