Weekend Recap

It was a surprisingly busy weekend. Saturday morning I had to myself to run errands and ended up all over.  The kids were a little bummed I was doing this shopping run solo, but quickly got over it when Josh said he’d take them downstairs to play on the Wii.  I went to Hobby Lobby and Ikea.  I love Ikea.

When I got home Phoebe was napping, but when she woke up we ended up walking to the library to return something and to check out the little festival that was going on.

?

The kids played some fun little games and then we walked back home.  We’ve also been playing some Pokemon Go.  Honestly, I think the novelty is already wearing off for me.  We’re busy with the kids and can’t just always go on walks and surprisingly when I’ve gone for walks at lunchtime I haven’t found all that much.  So… yeah.

What randomly decided to go out to eat with the kids. Neither of us had the energy to cook or clean up the kitchen.

Vega has not learned her lesson and is back to walking the deck railing.  She at least seems to be a bit more cautious after her fall however many weeks back.  When I work from home, she is usually my lap kitty, though Uzi will typically visit me as well and get in my face and Ziggy will come rub my ankles. They’re pretty decent workmates, though, one of them was apparently feeling neglected or otherwise and pooped in Phoebe’s room. SIGH.

That’s all I’ve got for the weekend!  This week is going to be very uneventful as we have excessive heat warnings and high humidity to boot.  Yay!

Week In Review – Anniversaries and Walks

Happy Monday!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

Random occurrences and accomplishments.

  • Took the kids to a carnival and fireworks for the 4th of July because it only happens once a year, right?

20160704_193857-01

  • Took Tuesday off to be absolutely lazy and sent the kids to day care so I could do so. The day flew by way too quickly, though.
  • Finished the 4th Outlander book (Drums of Autumn) and really want to jump right into the 5th, but decided to take a break since I have a lot of books on my to-read list and Josh is waiting for me to read another one so he can start it.
  • Watched the last episode of Season 2 of Outlander. The feels!! One crucial thing left out, but I can deal with it.
  • Walked to the library and played Pokemon Go.

  • Went on a date with Josh to celebrate our anniversary. It looks like I boozed it up, but I actually only finished one of those drinks (the first one).  I usually don’t have trouble ordering a Caipirinha or a Side car, but both ended up being far more sour than I typically make or receive.

  • Started our actual anniversary with a sick Enzo. He has cellulitis – one can only guess at that age, but it looks like an infection might have started on a teeny tiny cut he had and BAM – his hand was super swollen.  Not looking forward to the Urgent Care bill… why do kids always get sick on Sundays???

Week In Review – The one with alligators and Spam

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

Random occurrences and accomplishments.

  • Bought tickets for the Cat Video Festival in August. I’m going with a fellow cat lover from work.
  • Put out one fire at work, only to start another one.  I’m making mistakes, which is typical when I’m feeling burned out, and I definitely feel burned out lately.
  • Had a busy weekend more than anything where we introduced the kids to Spam at the Spam Museum.

The new museum has a bigger play area for kids, and we had a hard time convincing them to leave so we could hit up another destination.

On a whim, we decided to also visit the Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo (RAD).  It was HOT, and we weren’t there long, but did see lots of snakes, caiman, alligators – including a massive alligator – biggest I’ve ever seen.

On Sunday we decided to get in some swimming early, and it was nice with so few crowds and just the right temperature.  I’m thinking we might get a membership next year after we get the kids swimming lessons… if we can ever talk Enzo into it.

Perhaps this upcoming week will be more interesting… we’ll see. 😉

Week In Review – Rain, Bees and Humidity

Happy Monday!

Random occurrences and accomplishments.

  • Got my hair cut. It was really overdue, and as always makes me feel like a new woman.
  • Finished reading Voyager and now once I finish another book I think I’m going to jump right into the next book of the Outlander series because I can’t get enough.
  • Took the kids on our usual walk, only to have to turn around because the river was high and part of the trail was under water. Enzo said it was spooky, and I kind of agreed with how overgrown and shady everything was with only the odd splashing and random noises to be heard. Plus, I started to get really uncomfortable and claustrophobic once we realized there was water on both sides of the trail and the river was as high as it was.  I’d say the kids get their overactive imaginations from me… we hightailed it out of there pretty quick.

  • Made time for extra sleep – hey, that’s important.
  • Threw on a swimsuit and had a water “fight” with the kids because it was hot and humid. The neighbors probably thought we were nuts with all of the screaming because the water was COLD. Phoebe wanted to stay outside all day and is turning into a total water baby. I’m going to have to get the ball rolling on swimming lessons.

  • Had a very slow and quiet work week with lots of people out of the office, including most of my department. Just me holding down the fort, hoping no emergencies come up.

Happy Friday everyone!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

I feel like this past week wasn’t really all that productive, but it went by quickly and I don’t remember much in particular.

  • Managed to lose my Fitbit for a few days, but thankfully found it again. I think I’d prefer one of the wrist ones… it seems like I’d be less likely to misplace it.
  • Did a lot of reading this week, and it’s apparently rubbing off on Phoebe as I can no longer leave my books out where she can reach them. I love that she loves books, though – both of them really!

  • We cleaned the garage.
  • I organized our downstairs pantry/misc. closet
  • Went shopping with Phoebe in matching leggings, and yes, pre-kids I was one of those people who always said that was something she’d never do to her kids.

  • One of my ideas for under our deck was to add rocks and whatnot since it’s so soggy, but after Vega managed to fall off the deck yesterday I’m not sure I want to. I think the constantly squishy ground was probably what helped her walk away uninjured. Granted, I know cats have survived much worse falls, but still.
