Week In Review – Finally the Sun Came Out!

Happy Monday!

Random occurrences and accomplishments.

  • Got some work done in my office. I feel like this is probably going to just be a weekly update that sticks around for a while especially since I only get a little bit done at a time.
  • Started watching Z: The Beginning (about Zelda Fitzgerald) on Amazon, but our wireless is lame and since my hubby was on streaming his video game playing, Vega and I kept getting error messages. SIGH.

Speaking of which, Vega has been all kinds of snuggly this week!  It’s been a really nice surprising treat. She even came and slept by head for a while one night.

  • Got quite a bit of reading done this week, which is always nice even if it means a lot of other stuff doesn’t get done. I’m just going with what my body/mind says it needs during this usually blech time of year.  That also means eating as many free donuts as possible on Free Breakfast Friday at work.

  • After an incredibly gloomy week, the sun finally peeked through on Thursday and then came out in full glory on Friday. It hasn’t remained sunny, but I’ll take what I can get.

  • We got a lot of cleaning done over the weekend and had a little picnic lunch and watched the new Pete’s Dragon. It was actually a lot better than I thought it would be, and no, I didn’t get the sniffles. Not at all. I have allergies.

  • On Sunday Phoebe and I went grocery shopping, most importantly for items for the tea party I told her we could have. She was playing with her Calico Critters and pretending to have a tea party so I asked her if she wanted to have a real one and her eyes lit up and she was so excited.  It was an excellent day of play and rest overall.

I promise I do actually leave this seat occasionally. I won’t lie… there’s nothing more cozy than a recliner and it really is the perfect spot where I can view most of the action upstairs. Ha!  Plus, it makes for the perfect place to cuddle kids and cats… and to watch The OA.  Anyone else watching?  I’m not entirely sure what I think yet.  Vega is also intrigued, yet uncertain.

Happy Monday everyone!

Week In Review – Could have been better… could have been worse

Happy Monday!

Random occurrences and accomplishments.

  • All of the laundry since I didn’t get it done over the previous weekend while I was gone.
  • Day care found lice… again. I just can’t. We were clear and then all of the sudden it’s back.  I’m burning down the house.  (*Update – all is good now!*) Phoebe enjoyed our stop at Starbucks after confirming that we were indeed lice free and didn’t have to firebomb the house.

  • I am currently looking for our resident Sock Gnome who ran off with half of Phoebe’s new socks. I just bought them and then when I went to do her laundry…. Nothing. I looked everywhere. Curse you Sock Gnomes!!
  • Our car died.  As in needs a new engine died.  The good thing is that it looks like it’s related to a recall that happened last year.  Good because we took the car in and they cleared it, which means it looks like we won’t have to pay for the repairs.  I can’t even tell you what a huge relief THAT is.
  • However, because of the lice and the car I ended up working from home all week.  I’m ready to get back in the office tomorrow.  The one plus is that I get to wear whatever I want when I’m at home.

  • Still loving the planner.  I suppose I should have taken a picture this morning when it was updated, but too late.

  • Watched a fair amount of TV over the weekend. It was really gloomy and grey and just really blah overall.  Phoebe and I did get out to go run errands, so we weren’t completely housebound all weekend. There was a lot of lounging, though, which we fully earned after our less than stellar week.

  • I also pulled out my coloring books again the other night. It really is a nice stress reliever, I just don’t do it as often as I’d like because generally after 5 minutes I have to put everything aside (and kick a cat off my lap) because a child starts crying or needs to pee or something. I suppose I’ll have to use the dining room table from now on.

On that note, have a great week everyone!  May your cars run smoothly and may your house stay bug-free.

Week In Review – Bugs and a Road Trip

Happy Monday!

Random occurrences and accomplishments without many pictures because it was one of those weeks.  Oh boy, was it ever.

  • Lice, Lice, Lice. We’ll know for sure on Wednesday whether we’ve completely gotten rid of the little buggers. Needless to say my week has not been as productive as I would have liked.

  • Small progress made in my office in terms of organizing.
  • An embarrassing amount of Sister Wives episodes watched (in the background) while working from home 3 days this week). It’s fascinating, what can I say? There are times when I’m like, yes!  Having extra help around the house would be awesome!  Then I realize I’m incredibly jealous and that would probably not work… also I’m anal and then that would be one more person putting stuff in the wrong place and I have no time for that nonsense.
  • My company’s holiday party was on Friday evening, so we went to that and I indulged in several G&Ts and we watched a musical (Million Dollar Quartet). Neither Josh or I are really theater people, but we had a good time and it was very enjoyable.

  • I had a much-needed getaway. I haven’t spent a night away from the kids in a very long time and I can’t remember the last time I spent quietly outdoors, by myself without a lot of noise and/or people. I stepped out of my typical comfort zone and it was really good for me.  We’ve talked about one day getting a cabin and now I’ve decided I really want something as remote as possible.

I hope everyone else had a great week and Happy Monday!

Week In Review – Get Schtuff Done

Happy Monday!

Let’s see if I can remember this past week… I was all together and took notes and everything only to have Word/Google Drive not sync and now all those notes are gone, so…

  • I started things off getting organized. I got a new planner this week (thanks to coveting Meghan’s awesome planner and fantastic stickers.

  • I also have been working on reorganizing my office (yet again) and maybe, just maybe it will be done by December 31, 2017. It’s still a disaster, but it’s slowly coming together.

  • Finally took the kids to get their hair cut only to have the stylist find nits in Phoebe’s hair.  Not what I wanted to hear as we’ve never had lice before and it definitely put a damper on plans I had for the weekend. Thankfully there weren’t many, but it has not been fun and even though we’ve all been using special sprays and shampoo, I still feel itchy.  It’s actually amazing Josh didn’t find anything in my hair since Phoebe typically shares my pillow every night.

  • So much laundry.  I am extremely grateful it was really cold this weekend, though, because we were able to put a ton of stuff in garbage bags outside, otherwise there’s no way our dryer could have handled it all.  I had grand plans for the weekend that simply didn’t happen, but oh well.  I also had a heck of a time getting our water baby out of the tub and had to keep adding hot water to the tub while she insisted on watching Moana videos on my phone.

We’ll see how this week goes, whether or not it goes to plan.  Lots planned including my company’s holiday party and a little solo mini road trip for me!!

Have a great week!

Week in Review – the H.A. Version

Happy Monday!

Random occurrences and accomplishments.

Okay, this week’s list is going to be pretty lame because I can’t remember the first half of the week and then was struck down with the plague on Thursday.  Okay, fine, that might be a slight exaggeration, but I haven’t been sick in a while, and this cold is kicking my behind.

We did, however, succeed in getting family photos taken on Thursday evening. By that point I could already feel something coming on, but was determined to get through the shoot. It was kind of cold and the kids did great despite how cold it ended up being for outdoor shoot.  Come Friday, though, UGH.  It’s just a cold, but I always forget just how much a cold can completely wipe you out.  My head is super congested and… you know how it goes. No more whining.

We also went to my father-in-law’s house for the yearly leaf pile.

Now to go ready myself for tiny little goblins and to make tea with moderate amounts of whiskey and to an early bed since I absolutely have to be at work tomorrow – fuzzy head or no.

Happy Monday!
