Day In the Life

I haven’t done one of these in a really long time and happened to pick a weekend where the weather was beautiful and we decided to spend most of the day out of the house, which also means most of these pictures are off the phone.  I’ve learned lately that it’s just much easier to carry the phone rather than the bigger camera, especially with how active they both are.

Anyhoo, our Saturday started off early… so early.  I think the kids were up before 6:00… it was dark and far too early.  I suppose on the plus side it meant we had plenty of time to decide what our plans would be and time to get ready, though.  I gave Enzo a few options and he picked the zoo, so we figured we’d start there and then see where the day led us.

Through Enzo’s Eyes: Arboretum

While I love to encourage the kids’ curiosity and adventurousness, it can be difficult to keep tabs on them at times, and even more so when there are lots of people around.  There are a lot of cool things to see at the Arboretum and also lots of places for kids to run around, so it was nice to be able to give Enzo something to do that kept him close by and encouraged him to explore his surroundings.  So, I gave him my phone and let him snap away.

I love seeing what he sees.

Photo Dump and Thoughts…

I love a short work week, but it always throws me off… for a second I thought it was Friday, and then I realized it wasn’t.  Enzo wound up with a stomach bug, and we’re wondering if it was slowly building up over the weekend, which would explain some of the extra crankiness and the unexpected vomiting in the car.  He never had a fever until Tuesday night when he wound up being sick again.  He started acting much more like himself last night, though, and ate a large dinner.  This morning he wanted to stay home again with me despite feeling better. I can’t tell you how much I wanted to just say “Okay” and not go to work.  I know it would be rough, but our next goal is to have me be a stay at home mom in the upcoming year. Enzo is a preschooler so he’d be in preschool part-time and I think that would be perfect for him.  He loves preschool, but often gets overstimulated and burned out after being there all day long.  I know it would mean giving up a lot going from two incomes to one, but I really do think it would be worth it.  In time, I’ll hopefully be able to work part-time to help out as well.  Now, we just need to see if we can make it a reality and get our debt paid off. Nope, wrong attitude. It WILL happen, there is no if, only when.

Through Enzo’s Eyes

A while ago I went ahead and let Enzo play with some of our cameras.  He had a lot of fun, even though he has a hard time holding onto them due to his hands being fairly small.  Most of them are blurry, but it was fun to watch him play.  I think we need to get this boy his own compact camera, though.  I’d love to see more of the world through his eyes.

And some fun shots he took with the Instax that I need to re-scan. Ha ha.

Road Trip to Colorado – Part 2: Caravanning to Durango

Surprisingly, when it came time to get back into the van the next day and drive another 6 hours, the kids were fairly cooperative.  They settled in for the drive and we didn’t even have to make that many stops… granted when you’ve got two cars and four kids, rarely will everyone have to use the bathroom at the same time. Ha ha!

I didn’t take nearly enough photos overall in Durango, but it was so nice to see family and friends and to actually hang out with everyone at one time.  We stayed in a hotel the first two nights, but it was right downtown so we were able to walk around with the kids a bit since they do NOT like being cooped up for too long.
